Problem

The proof of usability of anchor-like connection elements for connections on hollow profiles and other constructions with difficult accessible backsides is to be done by a general building authority approval. With the mentioned connection elements, a fastening is made by an inclination of a shell with a cone placed in the not accessible area of the connection. Because of the missing support plate at the inaccessible side, bigger deformations occur at shear force stressed anchor-like connections than it would be the case with screws or even setscrews. On the other side the spreading shell leads to a deadlock in the drill hole, which constricts the deformations. Big deformations on implemented joints, whose influence to the actual capacity remained inexplicit, were the initial point of this project. Detailed conclusions about carrying- and deformation behavior and about the usability of anchor-like connections in steel construction shall be found within this research project.
